THE CALLITHUMPIAN CONSORT was founded by Stephen Drury sometime in the 1990′s. Dedicated to the proposition that music is an experience, the Consort has performed music by Cage, Feldman, Lachenmann, Zorn, Stockhausen, Scelsi, Ivan Tcherepnin, Xenakis, Lee Hyla, Boulez, Christian Wolff, Earle Brown, and others. The Consort has performed throughout North America and Europe, and can be heard on recordings released by Tzadik and Mode Records.
Caroline Park, based in Providence, writes actively for the Callithumpian Consort as the ensemble’s “webbottress”.
